Cyber football has been acknowledged a sports discipline in the RF

Yesterday, on July 6, the official website of the Russian Football Union (RFU) reported on the official acknowledgement of interactive football (cyber football) as a sports discipline. It obtained rights equal to those of beach and mini football, becoming a part of big sport.

A corresponding resolution of the Russian Ministry of Sports dates from June 9, but the approval procedure took some time. Opportunities that open up for the discipline are obvious. Collaboration between professional football clubs and e-sportsmen will become simpler and will be regulated by the law.

Any player of FIFA (Electronic Arts), PES (Konami) or other football simulator can earn a sports title. Currently, the RFU is preparing for the large all-Russian interactive football competition, which will be the first of a kind in Russia.

In addition, a special cyber football sub-committee has been established as part of the RFU, intended to promote the discipline.

With this aim in view, the organization actively collaborates with the newly accredited Russian E-sports Federation. Meanwhile, nobody knows whether other sports federations will follow the example of the RFU and whether they will undertake the commitment to develop simulators of their disciplines. That is unlikely to happen, as cyber football is a far more popular game than all other games.
