General Manager of Virtus.prо G2A shared his opinion on eSports competition with football

In October last year, Roman Dvoryankin, previously a manager of traditional sports clubs, became the head of eSports team Virtus.prо G2A. Recently, he shared his opinion with RNS information agency on eSports competition with the classic sports.

According to Roman Dvoryankin, from an economic point of view at this stage of development eSports is more transparent business than traditional ones. Its profitability is still not as big as it could be, but eSports brings real income for organizations and players. He compared stadium rent costs and star players’ wages with tickets sale profits stating the obvious lack of self-sufficiency of the classic sports.

Also, the General Manager of the team admits that he does not believe analysts’ statements concerning the superiority of eSports over football in terms of popularity next year. He believes that new sports are not replacing classic ones - they are just occupying their niche. He cited the situation around the Internet and print media as an example. Regardless of the fact that many users prefer to search for the information online, this does not put an end to paper products, as claimed by many analysts.
