International 2017 result: Europeans are stronger
Recently, Seattle hosted the largest e-sport tournament on Dota 2 - The International 2017. This year, the prize fund reached $24.6 million: currently, it is an absolute record among similar competitions. Almost half of the sum was taken by the winner – the EU club Team Liquid.
Three winners of TI7 and their rewards are as follows:
- Team Liquid (EU) - $10.8 million;
- Newbee (PRC) - $4 million;
- LGD. Forever Young (PRC) - $2.5 million.
According to experts, the Grand Final was a mere formality. From the very beginning it was clear that the Chinese team would not approach the Western competitors. The result of the match is 3:0. Team Liquid, which has made the longest possible way to the playoff, has proven itself worthy of being called a champion. Thus, traditions are kept: the western team did not give the Chinese the title of the winner for the second consecutive year.
This time, the CIS was represented by two teams - Virtus.pro and Team Empire. They both lost to the current champion in the playoffs and could only take 5-6 and 7-8 places respectively. The first one received a bit more than $1 million, the second - about $600 thousand.
